about

From 1990 to 1998, Adam Franklin was the singer, guitarist and main songwriter for London-based Swervedriver before the band reunited in 2008, which included a high-profile performance at Coachella. Swervedriver were contemporaries of and label mates with My Bloody Valentine and Ride but with a more adrenalized rock ‘n’ roll sound, showing flashes of Husker Du and Sonic Youth. Since Swervedriver's hiatus in the late 90's, Franklin released three full-length albums under his own name. Black Horses, the new release from Adam Franklin & Bolts Of Melody is out this summer on July 16, 2013 via Goodnight Records.

Track Name: Asha
I know what you do
You hide yourself away
And I don't want you to
I'm walking a million miles
Just to see you smile
Negotiate a better day
Your friends just walk on by
And you don't even try
To conjure something new
I'm remembering the days
When you could not be tamed
You could just settle down
This ain't no time to mess around
Don't be the one that got away
I'm walking a million miles
Just to see you smile
You've thrown the gauntlet down
When you know we'll be around
Don't be the one that got away
Track Name: When I Love You (I Love You All the While)
You ask me why I love you so
The answer I can't tell
I only know my actions show
I love you far too well
You ask me when I love you most
And if my love is true
Now listen dear and you will hear
The times when I love you

When the birds fly in springtime
When the sun in summer shines
When golden autumn days are passing
It's then for you I pine
When the winter snows are falling
The skies they frown or smile
When awake or dreaming, sweetheart
I love you all the while

You ask me if my love for you
Forever will remain
Though years may come and years may go
I love you just the same
You ask me when you're growing old
If I will love you too
Now listen dear and you will hear
The times when I love you
Track Name: I Used to Live for Music
I used to live for music
Harmonic motion can capture my soul
But now I don't know if any of it is mine
And I can't seem to kill the time
Track Name: Boocat Leah
Come up and see me
We'll dance in the mud
Faking I'm happy
As I reach for your gun
Don't pass out
You're on top of it all
Boocat Leah

Come up and see me
We'll speak double dutch
In a mess of our making
I wait for your touch
Don't crash out
You're the belle of the ball
Boocat Leah

Don't believe what everyone's saying
Disconnect the lines that they're making
Cos everything goes slow
When you dance on the floor
Boocat Leah

Come up and see me
I won't leave you for dead
As everything empties
From inside your head
Just make out
That you're in love with it all
Boocat Leah

Come up and see me
We'll speak double dutch
In a mess of our making
I wait for your touch
Don't crash out
You're the belle of the ball
Boocat Leah

Don't believe what everyone's saying
Contradict the lies that they're faking
Cos everything's slo-mo
When you dance on the floor
Boocat Leah
Track Name: Shining Somewhere (Horses Version)
I don't believe the light you've shone is gone
It's shining somewhere
I can't believe the love you gave's not saved
It's shining somewhere

I recognise the myriad sighs in the songs
You're singing to me
But I don't believe the light you've shone is gone
It's shining somewhere

I don't believe the light you've shone is gone
It's shining somewhere
I can't believe the love you gave is not safe
It's shining somewhere

I can't react to every heartfelt plea
This song makes me sad
But I don't believe the light you've shone is gone
It's shining somewhere
Track Name: Passenger Train, Warped by the Rain
Nobody cares about form
And nobody cares about speed
They just want it across the plate
It wasn't my idea
The lines can never be redrawn

And yeah, you say you love the rain
But then you run and hide just the same
As all the raindrops start to spray
And this is why I'm afraid
When you say you love me too

Escape your troubles into the future
Flip a coin and your ship's a-coming in
And even if the chance is slim
A line in the sand's been drawn
And can never be redrawn

Passenger train, warped by the rain
On the left is the land, the right the sea
And all the colours they reflect me
With little more left to give
And with nothing left to lose

Nobody cares about form
And nobody cares about speed
They just want it across the plate
It wasn't my idea
The lines can never be redrawn
Track Name: I Used to Live for a Thousand Years
I used to live for music
As if my senses could fracture its soul
But now I don't know if any of it is mine
And I can't seem to kill the time
Track Name: Boom!
Thrill me, just don't kill me
My love is sweet
Stay in my arms, free
Please don't harm me
I love when you put words in my mouth for me

Take me, don't forsake me
And dear, don't you choke on
Just lose the fear in me
Place it close to me
I love when you project your thoughts on me

Thrill me, just don't kill me
My love is sweet
Stay in my arms, free
Please don't harm me
I love when you put words in my mouth for me
Project your thoughts on me
Track Name: Long Way Home
It's such a lonely way home that I've mapped
With all goodwill in the world untapped
It's such a long way home
And you are

And you're the only one I'm thinking of
Black horses forcing me to jump right off
It's such a long way home

It took such a day for me to find my way
Now all our tomorrows will be come-what-mays
It's such a long way
And you are such a long ways from home
It's such a long way home
